Serving Students the Big Red Way

Target Audience: Whether you are in a department of one or 50, if you interact with students, this seminar is for you! As a part of the Student Retention Initiative, this two part seminar is designed to help employees provide outstanding service to students as a way to attract new students and retain current students. Participants are encouraged to come to the training with their supervisor(s) and co-workers who also provide service to students. The seminar will focus on communication skills, conflict resolution and methods for win-win outcomes.

Part One: Learning Objectives: (2 hours)

  • Why is service to students so important?
  • Five elements of successful student service
  • The Student Bill of Rights
  • Handling the stress of service
  • Disarming the angry or rude student
  • Effective communication for better service
